Christie Clinic's department of Cardiology Diagnostics is seeking a full-time RN Procedural at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. 

The Cardiac Diagnostic Nurse is a registered nurse responsible for providing safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care to individuals undergoing non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing in an ambulatory setting. This role supports cardiologists and cardiac testing teams by coordinating patient flow, performing assessments, monitoring during procedures, and ensuring high-quality outpatient care.

Job Qualifications and Expectations

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Support and monitor patients during outpatient cardiac diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to: exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, resting and stress echocardiograms, EKGs and ambulatory monitoring, and Coronary CTA
  • Initiate and manage IV access and administer medications per protocol
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, and patient symptoms throughout testing
  • Educate patients and families on testing procedures, expectations, and post-test care
  • Ensure a positive patient experience in a fast-paced outpatient environment
  • Identify and respond to adverse reactions, arrhythmias, or hemodynamic instability
  • Initiate emergency response and ACLS protocols as needed
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and medications
  • Accurately document assessments, procedures, medications, and outcomes in the medical record
  • Support efficient patient throughput while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Communicate abnormal findings or patient concerns promptly to the appropriate provider
  • Adhere to outpatient regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety activities and initiatives
  • Assist with staff education and competency validation related to cardiac testing
  • Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional nursing experience with cardiac arrhythmias and general cardiology.       

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: 

  • Possession of an Illinois State Registered Nurse License
  • CPR Certification
  • ACLS Certification

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds.  Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.  Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common.  Requirements may include working irregular hours.

PAY AND BENEFITS:

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
