Pay Range
$43.30 - $64.95EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, BSN, BS or MSN required. Masters degree in a related field preferred. Three years acute care (Emergency, Medical-Surgical, or Critical Care) nursing experience and three years supervisory or leadership experience required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of applicable state. Certification within one year of hire required. BCLS required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required within one year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensures administrative continuity to staff, patients, and families while acting as a liaison for the hospital executive director on call and the patient care services management team. Aware of and responds to activities occurring within the entire house during assigned work hours.
Collaborates with Nursing Management and Nursing Staffing Office provides primary leadership in the appropriate placement of nursing staff for staffing decisions during assigned hours.
Analyzes trends in utilization of resources and recommends changes to Nursing Director and/or Nurse Manager.
Provides consultation to ensure appropriate and timely placement of patients in conjunction with the Admitting Office, Bed Management, Clinics and patient care areas. Coordinates and conducts Daily Debriefings including weekends and holidays. Initiates decision to escalate capacity management plan when necessary and communicates this information accordingly.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses and ancillary staff to resolve clinical/operational issues. Teams with Hospitalists in a co-management model to facilitate communication and throughput within the organization.
Serves as a resource for policies, standards, and performance issues. Provides disciplinary counsel as appropriate and communicates to the Nurse Manager and/or Nursing Director as appropriate.
Serves as a resource for patient care quality, compliance and regulatory standards. Initiates action for resolution and notifies Nurse Manager and/or Nursing Director for follow up.
Serves as on-site liaison for Hospital Administrator on-call. Provides information to the Office of Communications Marketing and Media regarding patients or situations of interest to the media.
Communicates in an effective, positive and professional manner, role-modeling behaviors congruent with Caring Science. Serves as on-site liaison for resolution of Service Excellence issues.
Ensures a biogenic environment that stimulates the ongoing professional development of staff in accordance with the principles of Shared Governance, Caring Science, and professional practice. Develops and fosters relationships that support the continuous enhancement of care delivery, and patient and staff satisfaction through a professional practice environment of mutual respect.
Ensures that the hospital disaster plans and policies are followed throughout the hospital and coordinates activities as needed.
Represents the Chief Nursing Officer/Directors of Nursing with on-site operational and clinical leadership after normal business hours.
