Pay Range

$34.50 – $50.54 per hour  

The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Cary Medical Center anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Provides care in the ambulatory setting directed toward meeting both the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient in One Day Surgery and Endoscopy Suite. Is a resource person and teacher. Care given reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations. Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain steady level of productivity. Is a self-starter, compatible and supportive and a team player. Communicates on behalf of patient. Reflects the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statements of the department.

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Collects data and reviews health status of patient during Pre-Admission Screening or on admission to One day surgery. Completes anesthesia pre-op evaluation sheet.
  • Admits patient to the unit and verbally verifies identity with name and date of birth.
  • Verifies properly completed lab work, permits, H&P, and pre-op checklist.
  • Obtains temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, 02 Sat, and allergies.
  • Informs appropriate personnel of pertinent information obtained.
  • Directs patients to the proper departments for prescribed exams.
  • Gives care to the patient, as indicated by individual patient needs before and after their surgical procedure, endoscopic procedure, or other procedures through One Day Surgery.
  • Keeps current and accurate records on all patients.
  • Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting due consideration for patient's needs and the needs of the facility and staff.
  • Starts and discontinues IVs according to order and follows correct policy and procedure.
  • Ability to perform pain assessment, intervention, management and patient/family education.
  • Identifies physical symptoms and takes appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Consults other departments as needed and as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients' needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

Education or License: 

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Maine
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification or obtains within 12 months of hire

Availability: 

  • Depending on department staffing needs, you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
