POSITION SUMMARY
Registered nurse is responsible for collaborating, planning, directing and implementing patients care for all ages. The RN develops and guides patient education and evaluates the process using standards of care.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: None
Minimum Work Experience: None
Required Licenses/Certifications: Current licensure with the State of Texas, Appropriate CPR Certification.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care are gained through education, training, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualification: Specialty Certification. ICU-ACLS & TNCC, Telemetry-ACLS, Surgical-ACLS & TNCC or required within 18 months of hire date.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
7. Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient friends and family to understand condition, medications and self-care skills; answering questions.
8. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing departments philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice acts and other governing agency regulations
9. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
10. Maintains department specific certifications per policy.
11. Maintains state Licensure.
12. Required documentation specific to Registered Nurse includes the RN ADMISSION ASSESSMENT, completed within 24hrs of a all patient admissions to an inpatient unit (ICU, TELEMETRY WEST, TELEMETRY EAST/OBSERVATION, SURGICAL 4W, ACUTE REHAB UNIT)
13. Registered Nurses are required to administer specific IV medications per policy.
14. Registered Nurses are required to "check off" blood and blood products and initiate transfusions per policy, then able to delegate to an LVN.
