Provides specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU, including those undergoing pre- and post-operative management of open heart surgery. The RN is responsible for continuous hemodynamic monitoring, advanced life support interventions, and management of complex therapies such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Demonstrates expert clinical judgment and rapid response to changes in patient condition.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive care for patients before and after open heart surgery
Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data and cardiac rhythms
Manage advanced devices including IABP and CRRT
Administer critical medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and support ventilated patients
Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery expectations
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to ICU protocols and standards
Requirements:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required)
NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience
