Job Summary

Our progressive and dedicated healthcare team strives to change the lives of our patients and provide exceptional care.

This is a fast pace environment that requires critical thinking, teamwork and good communication between staff and patients. We are looking for a Registered Nurse, House Supervisor to help with BBHH's vision of providing that excellent care and striving to be the best hospital we can be.

  1. Demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the Child, Adolescent and Adult for a given shift, while supervising clinical staff working with patients.
  2. Consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to other staff, Thorough working knowledge of Hospital, Nursing and HR policies/procedures, with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical and leadership situations.
  3. Record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others;
  4. Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice;
  5. Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the child or adolescent psychiatric population, application of this knowledge to child, adolescent or adult knowledge of medical terminology, especially those terms associated with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric care;
  6. Thorough familiarity of psych pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric population, basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving;
  7. Organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills;
  8. Written and oral communication skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process-oriented and didactic groups.

This nursing department leadership position is in our Inpatient units.

The attention to detail and level of situational awareness required of the staff in the Inpatient Unit is paramount to the success of all patient outcomes.

Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and a current California RN License we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work.

If you have previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment where your attention was focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations, then your application to this position will be moved to the shortlist of candidates.

You should have a current CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date.

If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you start -- and even cover the cost for you.

Additionally, you'll complete a "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique Training during your orientation so that you know how and when to engage when such an event occurs.

You should know that this position operates on an Alternate Work Schedule of 12-hour shifts from 6:00am to 6:30pm or 6:00pm to 6:30am.

The RN position pays between $50.00-$61.38 per hour based on the experience you bring with you.

Skills Required

  • Current California RN license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR certification (current or obtain prior to start)
  • Experience in a mental healthcare or psychiatric hospital environment
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychotropic medications
  • Leadership and supervisory skills organizing staff and schedules
  • Crisis intervention and physical restraint technique training (Handle-With-Care provided in orientation)
  • Strong written and oral communication and group facilitation skills
