SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Site Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN), at Signature Health provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across ambulatory and behavioral health settings. The RN optimizes clinic efficiency, achieves high quality outcomes, and ensures an exceptional patient experience. RNs collaborate closely with providers, interdisciplinary teams, and operational leaders to ensure safe, timely, and effective care delivery. The RN Float requires flexibility to support multiple specialties and sites as operational needs arise.

HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED

  • Responsible for ensuring an optimal patient experience through empathetic, non-judgmental, culturally responsive communication.
  • Provide coverage at other Signature Health sites or in different service line specialties, based on operational need. 
  • Provide RN assessment, education, and intervention to optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Ensure patients and families understand care plans, medications, and follow-up expectations.
  • Coordinate care with internal service lines and external providers, hospitals, and emergency departments as needed.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, health histories, medication reconciliation, and clinical screening.
  • Provide nursing interventions within scope to support diagnosis, treatment initiation, stabilization, and ongoing care.
  • Administer medications and injections safely; perform specimen collection and basic procedures as appropriate to setting.
  • Monitor labs, test results, and clinical indicators; escalate concerns promptly to providers.
  • Responsible for supporting licensed Providers to achieve optimal clinic efficiency, quality, and access.
  • Prepare patients for provider visits to maximize visit effectiveness and throughput.
  • Manage prior authorizations, refill requests, patient assistance forms, and other care coordination tasks that extend provider capacity.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to triage patient calls, messages, and follow-up needs.
  • Responsible for cross-coverage in other nursing specialties from time to time, within training, competency, and scope of practice.
  • Responsible for cross-coverage at other Signature Health sites from time to time, based on operational need.
  • Participate in quality assurance, utilization review, staff meetings, training, and organizational initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of an approved program in registered nursing required.
  • Valid unencumbered RN license in the state of Ohio required. 
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Proficiency with technology and electronic medical records.
  • Strong communication, organization, and clinical judgment skills
  • 1-2+ years of RN experience with experience in ambulatory, behavioral health, primary care, or acute care settings; high degree of clinical expertise preferred.
  • Experience in field relevant to area of practice preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in team-based care environments desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment at various Signature Health locations.
  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.  
  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
