Abel Womack’s Raymond Lean Management (RLM) team partners with customers across a wide range of industries to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost through the practical application of Toyota Production System principles and continuous improvement strategies.

 

The RLM Specialist II serves as a Toyota Production System (TPS) facilitator, working on-site with customers to assess operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions that deliver measurable, lasting results. In this role, you’ll lead and support complex improvement initiatives, coach customer teams, facilitate training, and help build a culture of continuous improvement across warehouse and manufacturing environments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Visit potential and current customer sites to perform continuous improvement assessments and evaluate operational opportunities.
  • Apply Toyota Production System tools such as 5S, JIT, Kanban, A3, standardized work, value stream mapping, line balancing, lead-time mapping, Fault Tree Analysis, and PDCA to solve customer challenges.
  • Capture current-state activity, analyze workflows, define problems, and implement countermeasures that improve key performance indicators and material flow.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support continuous improvement projects with cross-functional and multi-department impact.
  • Coach and mentor customer managers and employees, helping them apply TPS concepts in their daily work and sustain improvements over time.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, and education on a wide range of TPS and continuous improvement topics.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and customer teams to develop accurate, effective improvement strategies and materials.
  • Lead or support multiple projects at once while promoting collaboration, accountability, and a strong continuous improvement mindset.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in continuous improvement, Lean, TPS, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, or a related environment.
  • Hands-on experience contributing to or leading initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and/or cost.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean or Toyota Production System tools such as 5S, Kanban, value stream mapping, standard work, PDCA, and related methodologies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively with customer leadership and frontline teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a practical, data-driven approach to improving operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel locally to customer sites on a regular basis, approximately 25%.

Physical Job Requirements:

 

Must be able to sit at a workstation for several hours at a time. Must be able to use telephone, stand, walk, bend, and must be able to lift to 35 pounds occasionally. Must be able to drive a vehicle frequently. Must be able to travel to project job sites and walk through warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
