Risk Operations Analyst

Mudflap serves the $800B trucking industry, the backbone of the U.S. economy. Our market-leading payment products help truckers save thousands of dollars on fuel (their #1 business expense), while providing our fuel stop partners with access to new, hard-to-reach customers. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk Operations Analyst to support our risk management efforts. The ideal candidate will assist in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating fraud and other operational risks across various facets of our business. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in the field of risk management.

Work Location: 

We value in-person connection and have offices in both Palo Alto, CA and Austin, TX. While we prefer candidates located in these hubs for occasional meetings and team collaboration, we are open to remote team members who can travel periodically if needed.

Expectations (In this role, you will):

• Support fraud and risk detection by assessing systems, processes, and procedures for gaps and vulnerabilities
• Analyze operational and transaction data to uncover trends and patterns that inform risk mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement policy and process improvements that reduce exposure to fraud
• Monitor the effectiveness of risk controls and recommend enhancements as needed
• Maintain clear documentation of risk assessments, incident responses, and mitigation efforts

Experience (What we look for):

• Background in risk, fraud, operations, or analytics—experience in financial services or insurance is a plus but not required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant tools for data analysis and reporting
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The salary range for this role is $68,000 - $75,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, which may be subject to change as new market data becomes available. The candidate's skills, experience, and other relevant factors will determine the exact compensation.
