We are looking for a risk manager to join the CDNA Clearing Organisation.
The position is based in Asia to give the clearing house risk coverage outside US hours, so you will be the first line of response for overnight incidents.
The emphasis is on clearing risk and operations, but you will also contribute to the margin and stress-testing models behind them. You will be contributing to the building of a fast-growth trading platform with innovative, multi-asset products bridging traditional finance (TradFi) and digital markets. For all roles, we look for people who are passionate about financial market innovation, equipped with energy, act as owners, and have exemplary work ethics.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary risk coverage during Asian and European hours, monitoring clearing member exposures and margin adequacy in real time and escalating breaches, abnormal activity, and position spikes to senior management.
- Oversee end-of-day settlement pricing processes and ensure the accuracy of cross-asset pricing data used for margin calculations and default management.
- Oversee the risk components of client onboarding and provide ongoing market, credit, and liquidity risk monitoring.
- Run the operational risk controls of the clearing house: guaranty fund and financial resource sufficiency, collateral eligibility and haircuts, and clearing member position limits and reportable thresholds.
- Calibrate and execute stress testing and reverse stress testing of clearing member portfolios, and support default management drills and the associated reporting.
- Design business requirements for clearing risk monitoring, including the daily risk pack for management.
- Manage and respond to regulatory requests, routine audits, and inquiries from governing bodies (e.g., CFTC, NFA, SEC).
- Drive new product listing and product design from a clearing perspective, ensuring appropriate risk controls and cross-margining efficiencies are in place where applicable.
- Lead the design and implementation of margin models, default management and liquidation strategies for the Clearing House, stepping in during operational issues with clearing members.
- Perform quantitative research to evaluate default management procedures and systemic risk exposure.
Requirements
- 5 to 10+ years of relevant working experience in clearinghouse risk, default management, operations, or a related field (experience with a CCP is a strong plus).
- Degree or above in a quantitative discipline, with professional qualifications such as CFA and FRM an added advantage.
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Strong understanding of equities, commodity products, futures, perpetuals, and other derivatives, including robust knowledge of pricing, valuation, funding rates, and cross-asset risk correlation.
- Solid understanding of margin concepts, liquidations, Default Management frameworks, and direct trading experience (personal or professional).
- Familiarity with CFTC, NFA, and SEC regulations, specifically as they apply to clearinghouses and DCO rules, is a strong plus.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to think critically and strive for continuous improvement.
- Deep familiarity with clearing house rulebooks, policies, and submission procedures required to maintain operational compliance and risk governance.
- A track record of making decisive operational risk calls with limited support during off-hours incidents, and of documenting them clearly for review the following morning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn detailed risk metrics into clear summaries for senior leadership, clearing members, and regulators.
