The Risk Management Specialist reports to the Enterprise Risk Claims Manager: Enterprise Risk Management Department (ERM) handling all facets of liability claims, including investigation, litigation management and resolution in cost-effective and timely manner. The team member will work closely with the third-party administrator, defense counsel, business partners and carrier representatives to develop litigation and settlement strategies.

Major Activities

  • Assists in monitoring the Legal Calendar for discovery, mediations, trials, and other dates to ensure all timelines are met appropriately
  • Gathers and compiles sensitive company information and documents for discovery requests related to general liability loss
  • Responsible for the preservation of evidence such as CCTV and products in anticipation of litigation.
  • Participates in quarterly claim reviews, actuary meetings, and financial reviews
  • Assists in supporting the Injury Counselors in gathering timecards and other requested information for subpoena request
  • Assists in managing and reviewing certificates of insurance from product vendors for insurance compliance
  • Assists the Manager - Regulatory Compliance by providing prompt product-related injury information
  • Assists in daily internal claim system date update

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • Multi-Line Adjuster license
  • 3+ years of multi state retail claim experience including litigated claims management
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and can work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related claim software
  • Occasional planned travel

Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • Action-oriented, independent, self-starter, comfortable working in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
  • Retail experience a plus
