ABOUT THE ROLE: 

We are seeking a dynamic and analytical Risk Management Intern, to join our Risk Management team at GEL Head Office in Barbados.  This role reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

In this essential role, you will work directly with the CRO to support the development and deployment of the company’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As Risk Management Intern, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the development and documentation of the ERM framework, including policies, methodologies, and governance structures.
  • Contribute to the design of risk appetite statements, risk metrics, and risk reporting formats.
  • Assist with risk assessments, workshops, and analysis across business units
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on risk management practices and governance standards
  • Prepare presentations, dashboards, reports, and briefing materials for senior management and governance bodies.
  • Contribute to embedding risk management into strategic and operational processes

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Interest in ERM, governance, and strategic decision-making

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, thoroughness, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Strong team player
  • Must be flexible and reliable
