About the team and role:
The Risk and Compliance team supports the Group Support Divisions—including Finance and Corporate Affairs, People and Culture, and Group General Counsel and Company Secretary—in the day‑to‑day management of risk and compliance. The team plays a key role in embedding ASX’s operational risk and compliance strategy and uplifting risk maturity across multiple divisions.
Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Partner, the Risk and Compliance Manager will act as the central point of coordination for all risk management and compliance activities across the supported divisions. The role is responsible for the effective operation and continued embedding of risk and compliance practices, including the provision of advice, risk and compliance self‑assessments, incident and issue management, control testing, and risk and compliance reporting. As a change leader and influencer, the role supports the embedding of a strong risk and compliance culture, ensures risk considerations are integrated into key operational and process design decisions, and contributes to the delivery of key initiatives as part of ASX’s enterprise‑wide transformation program.
What you will be doing:
- Support the Risk and Compliance Partner in maturing Line 1 Risk and Compliance capability and practices across ASX’s Group Support Divisions.
- Lead and coordinate risk and compliance assessment activities, including risk profiling, control testing, and issue and incident management, driving action plans to strengthen the control environment.
- Develop an in‑depth understanding of supported divisions and act as a trusted advisor on risk, compliance, control initiatives, and process improvements.
- Work with key stakeholders to implement and embed ASX’s Operational Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks into business‑as‑usual processes through strong engagement across the organisation.
- Deliver clear, timely, and high‑quality risk and compliance reporting, including inputs to Board and regulatory reporting and preparation of risk forum and governance packs.
What you will bring:
- Experience working within a Line 1, Line 2, or Line 3 risk function, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Experience supporting risk transformation activities, including risk and compliance assessments, control testing and uplift, and incident and issue management.
- Demonstrated experience providing risk and compliance advice on large, complex projects or initiatives.
- Strong ability to quickly understand complex concepts, apply sound judgement, and constructively challenge existing approaches.
- Experience planning, collating, analysing, and aggregating risk and control information to support effective reporting and decision‑making.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proven ability to build strong internal relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Well‑developed planning and prioritisation skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes to agreed deadlines.
Nice to have:
- Strong knowledge and practical experience applying best‑practice risk and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated understanding of both financial and non‑financial risk types and their application in an operational context.
- Sound understanding of key market obligations, including Market Integrity requirements and ASX Participant Compliance.
- Strong operational process knowledge and experience within an exchange and/or trading environment.
- Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks, including practical application and testing.
- Experience designing, building, or contributing to risk and compliance reporting dashboards.
