Job Description:

At Regions, the Risk Analyst performs advanced risk analyst duties as a first or second- line of defense function for the bank. This position will lead the coordination efforts with internal and external parties to conduct financial reporting, controls, policy and procedure documentation, governance activities, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this position will develop and implement independent reporting and/or financial analysis to assist in the Risk team’s oversight role. This role will also lead improvement efforts and provide regular updates on various practices, reports, policies, and procedures within the department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as subject-matter expert and oversees day-to-day identification, measurement, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Designs, develops, and reports independent analyses that provide greater insight into risk exposures and mitigation efforts
  • Enhances team processes and updates policies and procedures to reflect improvements
  • Leads the team’s preparation and involvement in regulatory examinations, which may include the annual Federal Reserve stress tests, examinations, etc.
  • Remains well informed of regulatory and industry practices and alerts team of updates
  • Resolves a range of standard to complex problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
  • Works towards mastery of knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers
  • May serve on related committees and/or working groups
  • May perform financial stress testing simulations
  • Offers advice and guidance to junior analysts, assisting in the development of necessary skills and the promotion of continuous improvement initiatives

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
  • Six (6) years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of fundamental risk theories, principles, and concepts

Additional Job Description

The Technology, Operations, Digital and Data (TODD) Risk Governance and Strategy Liaison role supports the design, communication, implementation, and execution of the TODD Risk strategy. This role will specifically contribute to efforts designed to ensure consistent execution of the administration of Technology Findings in the Issue Management Program. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs Quality Assurance reviews of Information Technology Findings against Issue Management program requirements to promote consistent risk approach
  • Collaborates and coordinates with key partners both within, and outside, TODD teams to provide consultation on issue management and other risk programs
  • Performs outreach, escalation, and/or consultation on issue management and other risks for TODD business units
  • Monitors for, and responds to, trends identified through QA results through communication and/or escalation
  • Prepares team presentations and deliverables to stakeholders, including oversight committees
  • Solves a range of standard-complex problems and analyzes possible solutions using available tools and resources
  • Delivers upon multiple initiatives while adhering to deadlines
  • Identifies, monitors, and report risks that are emerging for TODD
  • Provides regulatory exam and audit support for TODD partners
  • Prepares process procedures and contribute to identification of continuous improvement solutions
  • Obtains and maintains necessary training to keep current on the discipline of Risk Management
  • May perform User Acceptance Testing, when applicable
  • May deliver informal training and workshops to stakeholders on Issue Management and other risk program components
  • May contribute to preparation of project plans, timelines, critical paths, and milestones

Preferences

  • Previous Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control experience
  • Previous IT or Cyber risk assessment experience
  • Relative technology risk management certifications (e.g. CISA, CISM, CRISC)
  • Knowledge of IT and Cybersecurity Frameworks (e.g. NIST, COBIT, ITIL)

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building with the primary locations being for Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA. Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
