DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Youth Services department focused on supporting LGBTQIA2S+ youth and youth with current or previous DCFS involvement through programs like the Rainbow Resource Network, which provides access to clothing and personal care items to affirm youth identity and well-being.

JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates programming and services for all 8 Rainbow Resource Network (RRN) closets across Los Angeles County, ensuring operational success, affirming care, and community outreach to support LGBTQIA2S+ youth and youth involved with child welfare systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Coordination

  • Oversee operations and site agreements for 8 Rainbow Resource Network closets, ensuring partner compliance and successful boutique management
  • Ensure closets implement progressive engagement, strengths-based, LGBTQ+ affirming approaches to improve youth well-being
  • Maintain safe, welcoming, youth-centered spaces providing clothing, shapewear, and personal care items
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and closet host staff
  • Support and coordinate 4 Rainbow Boutique Ambassadors in co-designing spaces, outreach, and stock management
  • Directly manage LA LGBT Center’s Rainbow Boutique operations including appointments, communication, and inventory
  • Lead communication efforts for all Rainbow Resource Network sites
  • Host educational workshops on safe use of boutique items and support groups focused on SOGIE identities and affirmation

Outreach

  • Increase DCFS social workers’ understanding of RRN functions and benefits for youth self-expression and mental health
  • Market closets to DCFS staff, schools, and community programs via workshops, training, and event tabling.

Administration

  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for funders and executive leadership
  • Track inventory, purchases, outreach efforts, and engagement metrics using program tracking tools and databases
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and evaluations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience coordinating programs or services, preferably in youth services or LGBTQ+ affirming environments; experience with community outreach and event coordination.
  • Proficiency with inventory tracking systems, databases, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ affirming practices, youth development, and community resource coordination.
  • Experience working with LGBTQIA2S+ youth and/or child welfare systems; experience managing multiple program sites preferred
  • Familiarity with program reporting tools and community engagement platforms preferred
  • Understanding of DCFS systems and community-based youth services preferred
  • Ability to travel between multiple closet sites across Los Angeles County; ability to lift and move inventory items as needed
  • Comfortable conducting outreach and building community connections for donations and support
