The role of an RF (Radio Frequency) Planning & Design Engineer involves designing and optimizing wireless communication networks, ensuring efficient coverage, capacity, and quality of service.
What you'll do:
- Network Planning: Design and plan RF networks for optimal coverage, capacity, and performance, considering factors like terrain, population density, frequency bands, and interference for mobility and FWA networks.
- Tool Experience: Must have good hands-on experience of RF Planning tool like, Atoll, Asset, Planet.
- Link Budgeting: Conduct comprehensive link budget analyses for wireless communication systems, cellular networks, and other radio frequency (RF) systems
- Site Selection: Identify suitable locations for base stations, cell sites, and other network infrastructure based on coverage requirements, zoning regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Radio Parameters Optimization: Configure and optimize radio parameters such as power levels, antenna tilts, and handover parameters to achieve desired network performance and quality targets.
- Frequency Planning: Perform frequency planning and interference analysis to minimize co-channel and adjacent channel interference, ensuring efficient spectrum utilization and network reliability.
- Propagation Modeling: Conduct propagation modeling and prediction using tools like RF propagation software to simulate radio wave propagation and predict coverage areas and signal strength. Design and plan wireless radio path loss with different propagation modeling and prediction.
- Antenna System Design: Design antenna systems including antenna selection, placement, and configuration to achieve desired coverage patterns and performance objectives. Must be familiar with working and analysis of beamforming patterns.
- Interference Management: Identify and mitigate sources of interference such as adjacent channel interference, co-channel interference, and external sources to optimize network performance.
- Capacity Planning: Estimate network capacity requirements and dimension network resources including channels, carriers, and backhaul capacity to support expected traffic demand and growth. Able to analyze traffic patterns and plan network resources accordingly.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance metrics such as coverage, signal quality, throughput, and call drops, and take proactive measures to address any degradation in performance.
- Field Surveys: Conduct field surveys and drive tests to validate network design assumptions, identify coverage gaps, and fine-tune network parameters for optimal performance.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation including RF design reports, coverage maps, parameter configurations, and as-built drawings to maintain accurate records of network deployments.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineering, operations, and vendors to ensure alignment of RF design with overall network architecture and business objectives. Understanding the requirements of RFP, Preparation of pre-bid queries, consolidating valid queries from service provider to make the neutral technical specifications. Consolidating and Validating HLD/LLD documents for the proposed solutions in the project for RF Planning & Design Part.
