We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer III to join our Engineering team. The RF Engineer III is a technical expert that will lead as a project engineer for RF products including Oscillators, Central Power Supply Units (CPSUs), Frequency Converters, and Amplifiers for our commercial space customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead design and development of complex RF products with emphasis on oscillator products
- Analyze customer requirements and constraints
- Generate detailed design proposals for customers and provide expert-level advice on trade-off discussions for design concepts
- Estimate total costs, including material, labor, test and development costs as well as lead time for new products to be quoted
- Independently complete RF system and circuit design
- Support analog control circuitry designs for features including voltage regulation, gain control, automatic level control, and temperature compensation
- Perform detailed analysis of compliance for electrical, mechanical, environmental and regulatory requirements (compliance matrix) for all new products being quoted
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments
- Tune, Test, and Report on prototypes / engineering models
- Support Operations by creating test data sheets, supporting Integration and Test
- Provide clear, consistent technical judgment
- Invent new technologies
- Mentor junior engineers in areas of RF design and analysis
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in the RF/Microwave industry
- Demonstrated RF/MW oscillator design knowledge and competence working in several oscillator topologies with emphasis on ultra-low phase noise
- Command of RF principles and theories (RF signal cascade, impedance matching, amplifier topologies, multipaction, NF, stability, distortion, etc.)
- Extensive experience with the simulation, design, test, and realization of RF components
- Expertise in commercial RF / Microwave 2.5D, 3D simulation software (ADS or Microwave Office/AWR preferred)
- Expert understanding of RF board-level design (component selection/placement, shielding, microstrip, lumped element matching, distributed matching, etc.)
- Experience with RF laboratory equipment and RF test methods
- Experience in all phases of RF product development from proposal phase through production
- Experience with InP VCO design preferred
- Experience with Microwave circuit design through Ka-band frequencies preferred
- Experience leading multiple projects in different phases of completion
- Experience reviewing and creating design documentation (schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, test procedures, etc.)
- Familiar with schematic capture (OrCAD preferred)
- Experience reviewing work of junior engineers and providing technical guidance (technical mentoring)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to evaluate Lucix processes and industry best practices to identify areas for improvement
