Summary

As a Revenue Security Representative at Oncor, you are responsible for fully researching and investigating locations with suspected electric energy diversion when public safety and/or proper metering of electric services are compromised. The job involves eliminating theft and diversion by cutting and removing electric service at a weatherhead, pole, or handhole. The Revenue Security Representative develops documentation for internal and external legal, corporate security, or law enforcement authorities while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor in adversarial situations. These orders must be completed safely and within prescribed timeframes, resulting in the proper delivery and measurement of electric energy.

This position requires working various workdays, schedules, and locations. Physical demands include walking, standing, sitting, climbing in and out of a company truck multiple times per day, and carrying a ladder and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Recognizes proper and improper meter base wiring and meter tampering to evaluate the integrity of self-contained and instrument-rated meter installations.
  • Takes appropriate actions (examples include removing the meter, cutting overhead service, or disconnecting underground service) to immediately stop theft and remove public hazards while following the company’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Documents findings using, but not limited to, computer applications (Power Source, Word, Excel, and Outlook), smartphone camera, and proper evidence handling for diversion investigations for all types of retail customer accounts per tariff requirements.
  • Researches, verifies, and records data in Customer Care & Billing (CC&B), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and monitoring solution systems to ensure accurate inventory management and retail customer billing.
  • Coordinates with other functional groups—primarily Corporate Security, Field Service Representatives, Revenue Management, the Tampering Review Team, Construction Services, and Executive Referrals—to ensure proper procedures are followed and appropriate actions taken.
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
  • Must be available to work overtime as necessary, including all days of the week and holidays when needed.
  • Must be available for 24‑hour on-call work when needed.
  • Must be available to work at any location in the regional area when needed.

Skills

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver License is required.
  • Two or more years of experience in an investigative, inspection‑oriented, loss‑prevention, or research‑oriented work environment is required. (Open to considering experience outside the electric utility industry as long as it correlates to the skills of this role.)
  • Experience with electric metering field service or another related technical utility discipline is encouraged.
