What will this role achieve?

The successful candidate will lead the Net Revenue Management agenda for our branded Sweet Biscuits and Crisps and Snacks categories, focusing predominantly on Pricing, Promotions and Pack architecture. Our key metrics are delivering Net Sales per Tonne and absolute profit growth through increasing prices, optimizing promotions, changing packsizes and pack mix. The right price strategy must create value for the category, our channels, our customers and for pladis. This role has the support of 2 direct reports but a team of 3 overall who together will monitor performance, track execution of budgeted pricing initiatives to ensure faultless execution of the pricing plans and course correcting where necessary via the wider Customer team.

What will be your key deliverables?

Monthly Business Planning (In year Execution & return on investment)

  • Manage and deliver the P&L for the branded portfolio, e.g McVities Sweet Biscuits (Jaffa, Penguin, Digestives, Rich Tea), Mini Cheddars and Go Ahead supported by 2 x Revenue Growth Managers and a Revenue Growth Graduate.
  • Drive execution of budgeted price and promotional initiatives and implement course correction where necessary, through an ‘out of guidelines’ process.
  • Lead the price and pack strategy to deliver in year and long term profit and share growth.
  • Ensure tracking of and delivery against, promotional optimisation plans to drive incremental sales.
  • Lead the monthly Pricing Council, attended by the UKLT to align and decide on future pricing plans including the annual Cost Price Increase (CPI), Innovation (NPD) and course correction actions.
  • Lead the architecture, alignment and implementation of the annual CPI, ensuring inflation recovery, accretive £/kg, right packsizes and competitiveness in the category.
  • Attend the Monthly Performance Review (MPR) to inform and influence delivery of the growth agenda.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Customer teams, Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial Planning, Marketing, Insights, Category and Procurement to deliver fully cohesive plans. This role is pivotal and plays a key role in co-ordinating cross functional working.
  • Working with the Commercial Strategy and Insights team to implement optimised promotional return on investment, using competitor insights. This starts with influencing budget setting and ongoing drives the plan refinement throughout the year, where required.
  • Involvement and support in setting pricing for stock clearance process.

Annual Business Planning (Budget) & 3 Year Strategic Pricing Plan

  • Lead the architecture, alignment and implementation of the annual CPI, ensuring inflation recovery, accretive £/kg, right packsizes and competitiveness in the category. Considering customer strategies such as Bigger Pack Better Value (BPBV), Every Day Price, Price matching and promotional mechanic principles.
  • Support channel strategy development where appropriate ensuring that cross-read challenges are minimised at all times.
  • Develop and communicate promotional guidelines to deliver ARP targets by channel and pack format
  • Commercial inputs into Innovation pipeline such as price, packsize, promo frequency and volume sold on deal (VSOD) to determine profitability and feasibility of NPD.

What do you need for this role?

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification
  • Functional experience within FMCG
  • Proven experience of account-facing P&L responsibility within FMCG – ideally top 4
  • Good understanding of customer base and retail environment across channels
  • Proven experience of cross-functional working
  • Familiar with use of category data to form fact-based selling stories
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Good influencer and strong communication skills
  • Management and leadership experience
