The Company

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company that uses computer vision technology to enable frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world. Today, we are reimagining parking to enable millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out". We envision a future where people transact in the real world with a speed, ease and convenience that is unparalleled, even online. Tomorrow, we will power checkout-free experiences anywhere you go to make the everyday experiences of living, working and playing remarkable - giving us back our most valuable asset, time.

The Role

This role will be responsible for maximizing revenues for Metropolis operated parking lots.  While this is a relatively new field within the highly competitive parking industry it is becoming a critical one as distribution shifts online and automotive technologies rapidly evolve.

The candidate will be integral in helping shape the direction, analysis and processes of the newly created revenue management department.  We are looking for team members who are analytical, creative, and innovative but most importantly can use data to drive to decisions. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of the marketplace and develop yield and pricing strategies to increase revenues and drive a competitive advantage for Metropolis. Given that this is a new discipline within the industry, the candidate will be expected to think on their feet and develop revenue management practices from a clean sheet of paper.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize revenues by developing and implementing strategies through quantitative analysis of historical parking demand, competitive environment and consumer buying behavior
  • Develop a working relationship with SMEs in the field to understand the nuances of each market
  • Determine optimal pricing and create new pricing products to capitalize on changes in consumer buying habits
  • Build a knowledge of the digital ecosystem (distribution channels) and understand the impact of pricing actions within the ecosystem on demand
  • Help pilot new revenue management software for the parking industry including UAT testing of software and A/B testing to measure effectiveness
  • Create and capture data-driven revenue opportunities through advanced analytics
  • Proactively evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented strategies

Requirements

  • BS/BA or advanced degree with significant coursework or experience in a quantitative discipline (economics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, statistics, decision science, etc.)
  • Ability to query data (i.e. SQL)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to assemble information, extract pertinent facts, draw logical conclusions and present recommendations
  • Leverage understanding of business processes to identify and implement solutions that will result in significant bottom-line contributions
  • Understand intuition behind the numbers (i.e. does it make sense?)
  • Interest in optimization problem-solving, economic game theory, and consumer buying behavior
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with working team
  • In depth experience in data modeling through use of either statistical/machine learning toolkit such as SAS, R, Python, JMP, Minitab and/or BI tools like Spotfire and Tableau, preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience at an airline, hotel, rail, shipping, cruise or rental car company preferred
