The Role

Performance Improvement is responsible for selling, creating, and delivering solutions and professional services to meet client needs. With mentorship from their direct supervisor, the Senior Consultant, Performance Improvement will work closely with healthcare providers on financial and operational improvements.  Through thoughtful and excellent communication, the  Senior Consultant is responsible for achieving engagement milestones, producing quality deliverables, supervising and training junior colleagues, as well as contributing to Performance Improvement Advisory Solutions. Ideal candidates will have a vast experience in management consulting and/or a background in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

A Senior Consultant, Performance Improvement will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Overseeing daily execution of project initiatives while simultaneously providing guidance and support to junior colleagues
  • Displaying creativity and critical thinking in solving problems and quickness to comprehend new analysis techniques
  • Completing detailed financial analysis, statistical reports, visualizations, and presentations for both internal team and client review
  • Facilitating the growth and development of less senior team members by teaching them the technical tools and operational knowledge of the practice area and providing opportunities for them to take ownership of certain aspects of the project
  • Influencing the actions and opinions of others in the desired direction while exhibiting judgment in leading others to worthwhile objectives
  • Maintaining a high level of integrity
  • Independently owning key engagement workstreams with minimal oversight, such as:
    • Developing and updating related work plans, issue logs, status reports, and related initiative trackers
    • Creating internal and client-related materials such as agendas, presentations, analytics, and actionable next steps
    • Reviewing and validating conducted analyses and client deliverables before submission
    • Leading teams and initiatives to completion, achieving engagement results including financial net revenue and operational improvements, if applicable
    • Conducting client interviews and facilitating client meetings
    • Developing current- and future-state process flows depicting business process improvements
    • Conducting detailed analyses to proactively identify specific opportunities for improvement as well as implementation recommendations
    • Designing deliverable content to appropriately communicate analysis findings
    • Presenting findings and recommendations to client
    • Anticipating project risks and providing timely communication to project leaders along with a proposed plan for addressing identified risk
    • Completing quality reviews on team-member work products before delivery to client
    • Validating team-member findings and observations and overseeing team member process improvement and analytic activities
    • Consistently delivering work products that are high quality and client ready
  • Participating in Performance Improvement practice development initiatives, including knowledge capital and tool development
  • Representing Nordic in thought leadership and presentations regarding Nordic’s Performance Improvement Solutions
  • Maintaining a positive, professional attitude and proactive approach 
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference in business, healthcare administration, industrial engineering or related field
  • 4+ years’ of experience in the healthcare industry preferred
    • Clinical Process Redesign and Performance Improvement
    • Patient Throughput
    • Clinical Documentation Improvement
    • Evolving Models of Care (Patient Centered Population Health Management)
    • Care Management
    • “Top of License” Process Enablement
  • Clearly definable accomplishments achieved during their healthcare experience
  • Excellent client-interaction skills, collaborative work style, and good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization skills with a good attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims
  • Flexible; able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and working with different employees and clients
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and other collaboration tools, including virtual meeting and cloud technologies  
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following is preferred: SQL, PowerBI, Python
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
Additional Details
  • Relocation to Madison, WI, is not required
  • Travel 50% - 60% of the time
