The Role

Sandata Technologies, now part of HHAeXchange, is the pioneering force in home and community-based care, consistently leading the way with innovative technology solutions. We are hiring an experienced Billing Specialist who thrives in a collaborative environment, working across multiple departments and engaging with diverse stakeholders to ensure our agencies are accurately reimbursed for their dedication and hard work.


Must have a strong understanding of medical billing practices, insurance billing requirements, and reimbursement processes. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also a must to succeed in this position.


This position is in-office in Bloomington, MN.

Essential Job Duties

  • Billing Cycle Management: Generating and submitting claims to insurance companies, government programs, and other payers for services provided to patients.
  • Utilize agency management software to process billing tasks efficiently.

  • Payment Posting: Recording and posting payments received from insurance companies, patients and other sources to the appropriate patient accounts in the billing system.
  • Resolve short pays, monitor payment accuracy

  • Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and follow-up on unpaid claims, rejections/denials, and any outstanding balances to ensure timely collections.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies or denial to facilitate reimbursement
  • Collaborate with payers to address claim disputes.
  • Proficient in industry-standard software platforms.

  • Home Health Agency knowledge: Understanding the processes and requirements related to exchanging health care information with Home Health Agencies, including compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Reconciliation: Performing regular reconciliation of accounts receivable records with payments received to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Communication: Collaborating with other departments and agencies, to resolve billing and payment issues and improve processes.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, and staying up to date with changes in billing and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Reporting: Generating reports on billing and AR performance, including key metrics and KPIs.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and management.
  • Obtain and maintain an understanding of customers’ objectives and goals.
  • Ensure security of personal health information (PHI) and report any violations or observations to management.

Other Job Duties

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or HHAeXchange leader.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, and Skills

  • High school diploma required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 3+ years of RCM experience in the homecare industry preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Teams
  • Strategic and creative mindset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player

The base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $55,000 - $65,000 not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
