About The Role

The Revenue Controller will be located in Dublin and will lead the revenue accounting function of the company. The role will be responsible for the revenue, billing operations, and accounts receivable teams and functions for the global company. This includes the day-to-day accounting, month end close activities, management reporting, financial reporting, and assisting in financial audits, all related to our global revenue accounting workstreams and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
This role is key to providing accurate and timely financial information used to support both internal decision making and external reporting compliance.

The role will be highly visible within the company’s various departments. The ideal candidate will have foundational accounting knowledge including revenue recognition experience as well as the ability and willingness to engage in complex analysis, and aspirations to further develop a career in revenue accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Head of billing for the global company ensuring that the team prepares all invoices timely and accurately, including invoice and credit memo approval.
  • In charge of the revenue accounting close process, including reviewing journal entries prepared by the revenue team, balance sheet reconciliations for deferred revenue, US GAAP adjustments, bad debt/allowance review, and detailed revenue account analyses/reconciliations.
  • Responsible for presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue results and KPIs to the senior leadership team.
  • Monthly review of the company’s sales commissions calculations in accordance with the company’s plan.
  • Main point of contact within the Finance group between internal parties such as Legal, Sales, and Operations teams to resolve issues, work through new product revenue recognition, and new contract reviews.
  • Preparing/review technical accounting memos for revenue. Including amending/maintaining current revenue accounting policies.
  • Assistance with the annual external audit, including preparation of audit workpapers, revenue disclosures, and communications with the auditors on revenue and sales commissions processes.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls around the revenue process and robust contract to billing framework to track and verify all revenue and direct costs.
  • Develop, train, and mentor the revenue team.
  • Be involved in continuous improvement and enhancements of current billing and accounting systems
  • Involvement in other ad-hoc continuous improvement projects of the global accounting and finance organization.

Required

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or accounting degree (ACCA/ACA/similar)
  • ACCA Qualified 
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Extensive experience in revenue accounting with exposure to US accounting standard ASC-606, knowledge of software license and subscription services preferred
  • Experience in lease accounting and has had exposure to US accounting standard ASC 842
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with a ‘right first time’ approach to work
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work with global accounting team members located in both Dublin and New York.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical business deadlines.

Working Arrangements

This is a Hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions/geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).
