Key responsibilities:
- Reverse-engineer a variety of products to understand their design, function, and construction.
- Utilize tools and techniques such as tape measures, calipers, 3D scanners, destructive and non-destructive inspection methods, and positive material identification testing.
- Prepare detailed reports and drawings documenting the reverse engineering process and findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective use of gathered information.
- Perform 3D modeling and drafting for projects, ensuring all models and drawings are accurate and complete.
- Review customer mark-up prints and update drawings as necessary.
- Use Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault to produce accurate drawings and manage project workflows to complete components on time.
- Proactively communicate with internal support teams to maintain project flow and direction.
- Manage all technical and commercial correspondence related to the project, including communication with customers, end users, sales representatives, and external consultants.
- Notify sales team of scope or design changes that impact pricing and coordinate written communication and pricing adjustments with the customer.
- Update shop order documentation through our order entry team as needed.
- Notify the Accounting department when billing is required.
- We'll also look to you to provide quotation and sales support, participate in field and sales trips and contribute to the design engineering efforts.
Skills and experience required:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
- Strong understanding of standard manufacturing and machine shop practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on, innovative approach.
- Strong technical and analytical capabilities.
- Effective and friendly communicator, comfortable with face-to-face customer interactions.
- Willingness to travel (less than 50%).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering tools, preferably Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (50–60 lbs).
