The Role

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
Relocation:

The Role:
The EV Battery Lifecycle & Aftersales Strategy team at General Motors is a rapidly developing organization. Our mission is to drive the aftersales strategy for the lifecycle of the electric vehicle battery by providing exceptional support, product quality and safe service to ensure the longevity, reliability, sustainability, and circularity of our EV Batteries contribution to GM's vision of Zero Emissions, Zero Crashes, and Zero Congestion.
The RESS remanufacturing team is working to extend the lifecycle of GM produced modules and RESS packs. Your role as a RESS Remanufacturing Engineer will be to support on-going production of GM Remanufactured RESS packs and the development of additional RESS remanufacturing suppliers. Responsibilities include identification of test specifications and validation requirements; bill of material creation; development of salvage procedures and SOR; alignment of reman product offerings through all GM business partners. You will work closely with a cross functional team of product engineers, product managers, service engineers, purchasing & supply chain representatives as well as GM's supply base to be successful.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Grow the RESS remanufacturing product portfolio through identification and development of cost-effective remanufactured product solutions.
  • Develop and execute remanufacturing launch plan through development of:
    • Bill of Materials
    • Test Specifications
    • SOR
    • Create business cases
    • Develop design for experiments to improve quality or throughout at the reman site
    • Salvage Procedures
    • Validation Processes
    • Root Cause Analysis Procedures
    • Part Inspection Criteria
    • Core Teardown Process
  • Support the development and distribution of remanufactured battery packs.
  • Lead the resolution of remanufactured product quality issues
  • Collaborate with cross functional departments including product engineering, product management, service engineering, purchasing and supply chain and GM supply base.


Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience leading projects
  • Strong collaboration skills


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • EV Battery Experience; Working knowledge of electric propulsion and HV battery systems.
  • Remanufacturing process knowledge and background
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions
  • Propulsion related product development and/or testing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy in a complex environment, managing multiple projects by establishing priorities and deliverables with minimal supervision.
