The Methods and Tooling Technical Leader for turbine and generator tooling in North America will focus on leading, guiding, mentoring and developing the local engineering team to perform synopsis, lifting and lashing drawings and associated tooling design (3D, fabrication drawing, calculation note, user manual) for hydro projects in North America.
The ultimate priority of the Methods and Tooling Technical Leader is to enable the team to provide the best possible solutions for tooling to internal and external Hydro customers to ensure their satisfaction and allow continuous growth of the GE Vernova brand in the market, specifically GE Vernova Hydro.
The Tooling Technical Leader is responsible for driving technical excellence and continuous improvement in the tooling methods and design and implement evaluation of the contractual requirement, making sure we deliver safe and reliable tooling design at optimized cost.Job Description
Responsabilités
- Diriger, guider, mentorer et soutenir l'équipe basée principalement à Brossard dans l'exécution des activités d'ingénierie d'outillage, afin d'assurer le transport et l'installation sécuritaires des composants de turbines et de générateurs, et de permettre l'optimisation de la séquence, des délais et des coûts liés aux installations sur site.
- Réaliser lui-même des activités d'ingénierie d'outillage, y compris la gestion des dossiers urgents pour soutenir les projets en cas de besoin.
- Soutenir le Sub-COE leader pour assurer l'exécution de l'ingénierie d'outillage, afin de démarrer et de clôturer les dossiers dans les délais et budgets impartis.
- Mentorer et accompagner les ingénieurs pour qu'ils deviennent des ingénieurs de projet (Main Project Engineers) efficaces pour l'organisation.
- Assurer le suivi technique approprié de l'équipe. Aider à définir et à suivre la charge de travail de l'équipe, développer la capacité d'assignation des tâches demandées par les projets et les COE, et aider à définir les priorités en équilibrant les besoins du personnel et de l'entreprise avec le soutien du Sub-COE leader.
- Prendre en charge les problèmes techniques, diriger les actions techniques avec la gestion de projet et les experts, et participer à la prise de décision, en particulier en cas de problèmes techniques.
- Partager l'expertise technique à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur du COE Tooling. Aider à développer une communauté de partage technique au sein de l'équipe pour favoriser sa croissance (via des forums d'échange technique, encourager le partage de sujets).
- Soutenir le Sub-COE leader pour atteindre ou dépasser les plans de performance commerciale, attirer et retenir les talents, et créer une équipe hautement performante.
- Diriger les revues d'exécution avec l'équipe sur les sujets en cours, fournir des mises à jour dans Storms en conséquence, assurer le suivi des budgets et escalader les risques de retard, et piloter la gestion des livraisons à temps avec la gestion de projet (intégrateurs systèmes et gestionnaires d'ingénierie de projet).
- Établir et cultiver des relations clés au sein de la communauté technique pour maintenir une vision claire sur la conception, l'installation et les problèmes opérationnels, assurant l'intégration rapide des solutions résultantes, des leçons apprises et des meilleures pratiques dans les méthodes.
Qualifications / Exigences
- Baccalauréat en génie mécanique.
- Membre de l'OIQ (ou possibilité d'obtenir d'autres licences d'ingénierie Canadiennes — Ontario, Manitoba, Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, Colombie-Britannique — selon l'évolution des besoins commerciaux).
- Maîtrise du français et/ou de l'anglais (oral et écrit); L'employé(e) sera amené(e) à interagir de manière fluide avec des collègues de nos autres installations à travers et/ou à l'extérieur du Canada, et qui sont généralement incapables de communiquer en français et dont la langue de travail est principalement l'anglais
- Disponibilité pour voyager (10 % du temps) afin de soutenir l'équipe devant le client lors de réunions, si nécessaire.

Responsibilities
- Lead, guide, mentor and support the team mainly based in Brossard, performing tooling engineering scope to ensure safe transportation and installation of turbine and generator components and enable optimization of the sequence, time and costs associated to perform installation at site.
- Perform himself tooling engineering scope (methods definition & tooling design), including managing urgent topics to support the projects whenever needed
- Support the Sub-COE leader to secure the execution of engineering tooling scope, to start and close topics on time and on budget.
- Mentor and support Engineers and lead engineers to become efficient Main Project Engineers for the organization
- Ensure the proper technical follow up of the team. Help define and follow on the load of the team, develop capacity to assign tasks requested by projects and COEs, and help define the priorities balancing people and business needs with the support of the Sub-COE leader.
- Take ownership of technical issues, and lead technical actions with project management and experts, participate in decisions making, particularly in case of technical issues.
- Share technical expertise inside and outside of the COE Tooling. Help develop a technical sharing community within the team to help the team to grow (in technical exchange forums, encourage people to prepare some topics to share)
- Support Sub-COE leader to meet or exceed business performance plans, attract and retain talented personnel, create a high performing team.
- Lead execution reviews with the team on subjects in progress, provide updates in Storms accordingly, follow-up on budgets and escalate when slippages are foreseen, take the lead managing delivery on time with project management (system integrators and project engineering managers).
- Establish and cultivate key relationships throughout the technical community to maintain insight into design, installation, operations issues ensuring prompt incorporation of resultant solutions, lessons learned and best practices into methods content
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Member of the OIQ and possibility to get other Canadian Engineering Licenses (Ontario, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, British Columbia) as business needs evolve
- Proficiency in French and/or English (spoken and written); The employee will be required to interact fluidly with colleagues in our other facilities across and/or outside of Canada, and who are generally unable to communicate in French and whose language at work is predominantly English.
- Ability to travel 10 % of the time to provide support to the team in front of the customer during meetings as required
