About the Team
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
The Business Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence by developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst core business audiences.
The Strategy & Operations function supports Business Marketing with operating models and cadences; strategic planning; portfolio, resource, and investment management; measurement and organizational learning that empower our teams to move at pace with clarity and confidence.
About the Role
We’re looking for a resourceful, systems-minded program manager to help Business Marketing turn a constant flow of ideas, requests, and priorities into world-class, high-performing marketing campaigns. You’ll manage our marketing portfolio and intake process, lead selected cross-functional projects, and build AI-enabled tools that make it easier for marketers to get their work done.
You’ll be the first partner for new requests: understanding the business need, sizing the work, and finding its best home. You’ll connect requests to existing campaigns and programs where possible, establish clear ownership, and make sure teams have the context and structure they need to move quickly.
This role combines an integrated marketing mindset with hands-on project management and a builder’s instinct. You should enjoy being the person everyone reaches out to, making sense of ambiguity, and seeing how a small ask might become a much bigger thing—or when a big ask is actually something quite small. This role makes everyone’s life a little easier by providing a better understanding of what’s happening across the entire department, a clear way to kick off work with the right people, high-touch support for our most intense projects, and useful systems that take friction out of everyone’s day.
In this role, you will:Lead selected cross-functional projects. Build the model by program-managing some of our biggest, most complex initiatives. Take projects from initial definition through delivery, coordinating dependencies, resolving blockers, managing scope changes, and keeping stakeholders aligned as priorities evolve. Use what you learn to inform the process.
Run marketing intake and triage. Clarify the audience, business objective, urgency, scope, and readiness of new requests. Help stakeholders turn incomplete requests into actionable briefs through quick conversations rather than cumbersome processes or forms. Find a path to “yes, we can” for most requests, and feel comfortable telling a stakeholder “why not” if that’s truly the best answer.
Manage the ongoing marketing portfolio. Maintain a clear view of active and upcoming work. Use your deep knowledge of the portfolio—including team members’ responsibilities and availability—to push for single-threaded, named leadership when there are multiple contributors.
Find the right home for the work. Determine whether a request belongs within an existing campaign, needs integrated marketing involvement, warrants a standalone project, or can be handled through self-service. Understand that every request is important for some reason and treat it as such, while still making recommendations grounded in business priorities.
Set projects up for effective collaboration. Create clarity by naming accountable owners, clarifying who has decision-making authority, and codifying working teams, milestones, and the appropriate information structure. Use AI workflows to kick off briefs and project spaces and appropriately capture status updates and decision records.
Partner closely with Creative Operations. Bring creative partners in early to help shape briefs and assess feasibility and production needs. Ensure Creative Operations has what it needs to assign creative staff, estimate capacity, scope agency agreements, and create production timelines.
Build and improve AI-enabled tools and workflows. Personally prototype and implement practical ways to improve intake, brief development, project setup, portfolio visibility, and reporting. Test with users, maintain appropriate human review, and improve what actually saves people time.
Make the operating model easier to use. Use team feedback and delivery patterns to simplify processes, strengthen self-service, and reduce repetitive coordination. Build systems that remain useful as the team and volume of work grow.
7+ years of experience in marketing program and project management, integrated marketing management, or marketing portfolio management across multiple teams and concurrent priorities.
A track record of personally leading cross-functional projects, establishing ownership, managing dependencies, and driving work through to completion.
An integrated marketing mindset: you see beyond an individual deliverable to understand its audience, purpose, campaign context, and relationship to other work.
Strong judgment in ambiguous situations, including the ability to distinguish urgency from importance, ask the right questions, and make practical recommendations with incomplete information.
Experience designing intake processes, project structures, and portfolio systems that people adopt and prefer to use because they make their lives easier.
Hands-on experience building AI-enabled tools, automations, or workflows, with concrete examples of how they improved work. You can move from identifying a problem to testing and implementing a useful solution.
The ability to build trust with marketers, creatives, and operational partners, including when you need to challenge an ask, reset expectations, or recommend a different path.
A consulting-like approach to problem-solving: curiosity, structured thinking, comfort with unfamiliar problems, and a willingness to do hands-on work.
A bias toward simplicity and sustainable execution. You create clarity and momentum without adding meetings, processes, or maintenance that outweigh their value.
