As part of Hitachi Europe Ltd.’s European R&D Centre, the Hitachi Cambridge laboratory has a long-standing history of exploring cutting edge fundamental science in collaboration with world-leading academics from the University of Cambridge. Our current focus is the exploration of quantum technology and synthetic biology for the benefit of Hitachi’s future business.
What you’ll be doing
In your role as a research scientist at our Hitachi Cambridge laboratory you will conduct research on semiconductors spin qubits. The role will also be responsible for implementing one of the following three projects:
Project 2: Simulation of semiconductor hole-spin qubits and their use for quantum chemistry: In this project you will conduct numerical simulations of semiconductor hole spin qubits to evaluate their utility in implementing variational quantum chemistry algorithms.
What you bring to the team
We’re looking for a team player, who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The role is office based and will be carried out at the Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
A university education in physics.
Extensive knowledge of the scientific literature on semiconductor spin qubits.
Extensive knowledge of the scientific literature on either variational quantum algorithms or coherence protection via phase modulation.
General programming knowledge in python and specific knowledge on numerical modelling of semiconductor spin qubits.
Basic skills in academic writing
