Summary 

Under general direction, design and perform experiments for sponsored research projects, including the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of experimental data. The successful candidate will participate in a multidisciplinary research program in the laboratory of Dr. Chaluvally-Raghavan, with a focus on characterizing the role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), immuno-oncology, and the development and validation of therapeutic antibodies for cancer.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques, including molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and structural biology approaches. Experience with mammalian cell culture, RNA and protein analyses, and a strong understanding of cancer biology will be considered an advantage. The candidate is expected to work both independently and collaboratively, maintain accurate experimental records, analyze data, and contribute to manuscript preparation.

 

Primary Responsibilities  
  • Carry out routine and complex experiments.

  • Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties for ordering, maintaining supply of inventory.

  • Prepare media and maintain cells by various culturing in techniques.

  • Perform immune cell profiling using flow cytometry.

  • Perform RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR for gene expression analysis.  

  • Evauate the anti-tumor effects of monoclonal antibodies or small molecules in both in vitro and in vivo models.

  • Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.

  • Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or PI

  • Assist in development and implementation of research protocols.

  • Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.

  • Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays.

  • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities 
  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.  

  • Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.  

 

Qualifications 

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education an on equivalent basis.

 

Minimum Required Education:        Bachelor’s degree 

Minimum Required Experience:       1 year 

Preferred Education:                  Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Experience:                    1-2 years      

 

Physical Requirements 

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously. 

 

Work Environment 

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment. 

 

Sensory Acuity 

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
