Baptist Health is looking for a Research Finance Analyst to join our team in Lexington, KY!
The Research Financial Analyst is responsible for financial management within the Office of Research Administration, supporting the financial oversight of clinical trials across the health system. This role works closely with the Research Finance management, Finance team, and the clinical research team to manage the complete financial life cycle of clinical trials—from study startup through closeout. The Research Financial Analyst oversees all financial functions within the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), including the development, maintenance, and reconciliation of study budgets, as well as the accurate recording, allocation, and tracking of study-related financial transactions.
The analyst researches and analyzes accounting data to provide timely and accurate financial information to leadership. Key responsibilities include building study budgets in the CTMS; payment coding; processing deposits and allocating funds within the CTMS; maintaining the accounts receivable tracker; generating invoices for subject visits, administrative fees, and all other billable items outlined in the Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA); and submitting invoices for industry-sponsored studies and all applicable federal studies through CTSU OPEN. The role also manages accounts payable by maintaining the payable tracker, submitting and monitoring payment requests for participant reimbursements, internal departments, and external vendors.
The Research Financial Analyst ensures that study closeout is completed in accordance with departmental procedures and prepares financial reports as needed. This position plays a central role in maintaining financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and the overall fiscal integrity of the research program.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or health administration.
5 years job-related experience.
Four or more additional years of experience in clinical research, medical billing/coding, healthcare compliance/auditing, or equivalent experience in accounting/finance in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, modeling, Power Query).
Experience working with clinical trials or healthcare financial data.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
Ability to interpret clinical procedures, tests, and care pathways for financial impact.
Basic programming and reporting experience.
Knowledge of clinical research billing compliance and healthcare reimbursement models.
Five years of experience managing high‑volume Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations.
Experience with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) preferred.
Exposure to reporting tools or basic programming preferred.
Experience in clinical research finance, healthcare finance, or related field
Demonstrated experience working with clinical trial budgets, financial systems, and research billing processes
