Who are KANTAR Africa Insight?

KANTAR Africa Insight is a unique division within Kantar that specialises in Consumer, Shopper and Customer research in Sub-Saharan Africa (based in the UK.) Most of our work is for a leading Global Alcoholic beverage company, with whom we have a long standing partnership. We are trusted advisors on their Africa brand strategy for a very large and varied brand portfolio.

Africa is a region that is growing at an exponential rate. This staggering growth is evident across multiple product categories, which is why many global companies are keen to explore the opportunity.

Who we are looking for…

  • Someone to play a vital support role in the team – helping with the management and delivery of research projects on our key Alcoholic beverage account.
  • Our project work is first and foremost a Brand Tracking study in 10 African markets, which is hugely important for our client’s brand strategy in Africa.
  • There is also opportunity with ad-hoc work to deliver to other specific needs outside of the Tracking study across Innovation, Shopper Understanding and Creative optimization.
  • Someone with a genuine interest in quantitative research, a demonstrable curiosity in brands, products and advertising and a desire to face clients, as they develop their confidence in the role.
  • Someone who is energetic, always willing to learn and improve. Someone who likes to work to a high standard and tries hard to exceed it each time.

The purpose of the role …

  • You will work closely with the team whilst taking ownership and accountability for the work assigned, acting as a key support role for the senior members of the team.
  • Helping with the planning and implementation of research projects, day-to-day project management, delivery of analysis, development of actionable insights and effective presentations.

What this role has to deliver …

A position currently exists to work within a strong, results orientated team to support a key account within the Alcoholic drinks team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist expertise within the Alcoholic drinks arena and to develop strong client handling skills in a team which has very strong partnerships with their clients. This is an unusual role as it affords the opportunity to really get to grips with the exciting and stimulating world of research in Africa, whilst utilizing the most innovative Kantar business solutions.

You will be responsible for...

  • Executing research projects with strong support from project team
  • Day to day project management, eg. planning, management, executing, problem solving and delivery with heavy supervision and guidance
  • Designing research materials (questionnaires, guides, timings, DP specs, stimulus etc)
  • Collaborating with suppliers and Kantar units
  • You will be supporting senior staff with client servicing
  • Data manipulation, including checking, cross tab, formatting, charting
  • Data analysis, investigating issues
  • Proactively recommend changes and solutions to superiors for task based problems
  • Preparing presentations with direction from Seniors

The knowledge and skills needed for success …

Personal skills:

  • Strong attention to detail – meticulous and tenacious
  • Results orientated, willing to go the extra mile when needed
  • Willing to travel to Africa occasionally

Education:

  • Minimum of a 2:1 bachelors degree (Psychology, Economics, Business Studies backgrounds preferable but not essential)

Knowledge and skills:

  • Experience in quantitative research
  • Preferably some experience with tracking studies
  • Understanding of the market research cycle – from questionnaire design to sampling, fieldwork, data specification, methodologies
  • Strong mathematical, data and analytical skills – data input, manipulation and interpretation are core requirements for the job
  • Solid writing skills – descriptive and interpretative
