About the Opportunity
Northeastern University is seeking a motivated Research Engineer to support computational modeling and imaging efforts investigating the effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields on the human nervous system. Working under the direction of Prof. Yarossi, this position will support the development of head models and E-field simulations, working alongside the Research Scientist and in collaboration with the Northeastern Center for Translational Neuroimaging.
Responsibilities:
- Support creation and segmentation of head models for E-field simulation.
- Assist in developing and applying computational modeling pipelines.
- Support neuron modeling efforts, including implementation and testing of multi-compartment models.
- Support imaging data processing and analysis in coordination with project collaborators.
- Contribute to technical reporting, documentation, and dissemination of project results.
Education/Experience:
- BS required (MS preferred) in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Experience with computational modeling, simulation, or imaging analysis is preferred.
Skills:
- Familiarity with E-field simulation platforms such as SimNIBS, Sim4Life, CST Studio Suite, or ANSYS HFSS is a plus.
- Familiarity with neuron modeling tools such as NEURON, or neural mass modeling approaches, is a plus.
- Working knowledge of image segmentation and processing tools/pipelines (e.g., FreeSurfer, SPM, or similar) is beneficial.
- Solid programming and numerical computing skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary research team.
