Research Engineer, Creative Vision

Snap Research serves as an innovation engine for the company. Our projects range from solutions to hard technical problems that significantly enhance Snap’s existing products, to riskier explorations that can lead to fundamental paradigm shifts in the way people communicate and express themselves. 

We are looking for a Research Engineer to join the Creative Vision team. 

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to a multi-year research agenda

• Work on large-scale video generative projects

• Share your expertise with other teammates and interns

• Partner with engineering teams to deliver your technology to millions of Snapchatters

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Strong technical knowledge of statistics, data analysis, machine learning, vision and state-of-the-art deep learning literature

• Demonstrated ability in executing challenging research projects

• Strong computer science fundamentals and  programming skills

• Expert knowledge with Python and PyTorch

• Proficiency with python data science stack: NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, machine learning or equivalent years of practical work experience 

• 3+ years of experience with large scale generative computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, in an academic lab or industry; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 2+ year of post-grad ML experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field

• Experience with large scale training and inference workflows, ability to benchmark and optimize them 

• Experience with Python and PyTorch profilers

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, machine learning

• Experience with CUDA programming

• Experience with multimodal machine learning, involving images, videos, audio, text, speech and 3D objects

• Experience with large-scale data collection and annotation best practices

• Experience with large scale cloud computing, knowledge of kubernetes

• Experience with generative model training

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
