Summary/Objective
As part of the Elephas In-Vivo BioPharma Services, the Research Coordinator I will provide support to the company's BioPharma Services program, supporting enhanced solutions-based approaches to internal and external sponsor requests. The Research Coordinator I has specific scientific responsibilities, which include participating in all technical procedures in the operational areas of In-Vivo BioPharma Services. The coordinator will additionally support a variety of platform driven projects within the department.
Job Duties
- Maintains the highest standards of care and welfare in accordance with guidelines from AAALAC
- Completes husbandry and housekeeping of research model holding and support areas
- Collects and prepares biological samples
- Prepares and maintains required activity records and forms
- Adheres to and authors standard operating procedures in compliance with all state, federal and industry requirements
- Performs specialized tests and procedures including cell culture work and surgical techniques
- Monitors environmental conditions and performs clinical observations in vivarium
- Completes general lab maintenance tasks
- Serves as a resource for research staff and proactively analyzes problems
- Ensures biosecurity for the facility
- Learns new complex procedures (such as humanization, bioluminescent and fluorescent imaging, advanced surgical procedures, etc.)
- Builds competency in a comprehensive range of in-vivo procedures
- Provides input and participates in project meetings
- Prepares written reports with input from Scientists/Manager
- Participates in data meetings by providing suggestions and insights based on experience
- Often presents data to Scientists/Manager in small group settings, such as data meetings
- Exemplifies team processes; participates in identifying problems, suggesting improvements, and helping with solutions
Competencies
- Familiarity with procedures such as drug administration and tissue harvest preferred
- Previous exposure to cell and/or tissue culture preferred
- Proficiency in laboratory animal handling
- Basic knowledge of computers and software programs
Required Education and Experience
- GED + 6 years’ relevant experience
- Associate’s Degree + 4 years’ relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
Certifications/Specializations
ALAT or other AALAS certification preferred
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Weekend work will occasionally be required.
