The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a high-integrity and independently motivated Research Coordinator I – Research Division position to play a key role within the administrative offices. This is a full-time, permanent position, located near the Health Sciences Campus at the LA General Medical Center.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree plus one (1) year of applied research experience. Strong interest in clinical research, health disparities, and community health/health services research preferred. Demonstrated excellent organizational, coordination and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities for productivity. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with and recruit parents, community members and multidisciplinary medical professionals from diverse healthcare settings. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Experience in data collection and managing research projects preferred. Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be needed. Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, responsible for managing all phases of multiple research projects and ensuring compliance with study protocols. Responsibilities include recruiting study participants, interviewing participants, administering survey questionnaires, coordinating research activities and meetings, and performing related duties as needed.
Maintains participant’s records in electronic database and ensures their confidentiality. As directed, conduct data entry, processing, and analysis.
Creates electronic database structure and data entry forms utilizing REDCAP or similar HIPAA compliant data entry system.
Directly initiates communication with staff from outside organizations to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to study implementation.
Assists in IRB submissions, developing consent forms and study related recruitment materials.
Provides support in the preparation of presentations, lectures, abstract submission, manuscripts, research proposals, and any other research-related activities.
Assist with scheduling of meetings, including Zoom/Teams invites, and keeping notes during meetings, training, and data collection sessions.
Coordinates and/or links project operations with other administrative and research functions on and off campus. Serves as a key resource for project information and resolves problems or questions referred by internal and external sources.
Assists in onboarding of student research assistants, including in-person orientation and training, feedback on data collection and accuracy, and attending study team meetings with student research assistants.
Establishes and maintains an active network of professional contacts, excelling at cultivating rapport and positive professional relationships with all parties who intersect with the research team.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
The position requires flexibility to work evening shifts, particularly during student orientation periods, to support student engagement activities.
This position will also require occasional offsite travel if study protocols require it.

The hourly range for this position is $31.08 - $32.01.
