Job Summary: The Research Associate Sr serves as an independent researcher, or a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative, and may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project. Performs other duties as needed.
Candidates must possess hands-on experience with large animal surgical instrumentation under general anesthesia and must be capable of becoming a lead surgeon in collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team. Required competencies include anesthesia induction and maintenance, endotracheal intubation, and management of animals on mechanical ventilation. The position requires proficiency in maintaining a sterile surgical field and the ability to independently perform various arterial and venous catheter placements as well as vascular flow probe implantations. Experience must encompass both acute and chronic instrumentation protocols. In addition to performing surgical procedures, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively instruct and mentor research team members in surgical techniques, anesthesia management, and perioperative animal care, fostering a collaborative and educationally supportive laboratory environment. The candidate must work with precision and composure in a surgical setting while adhering to all applicable IACUC regulations and Principal Investigator protocols.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in related science fields required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum four years of research experience required. Minimum one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
