SUMMARY OF ROLE

We are seeking a Research Associate I, R&D Microbiology responsible for supporting R&D product launches and microbiology services.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our highly skilled scientists and engineers on a variety of cross-functional projects in developing new applications, technologies, and products for QC Microbiology Laboratories. You should be an energetic self-starter with documented productivity and integrity; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Executes standard experiments and protocols within a R&D laboratory environment to support design, development, and validation of new products for use in Quality Control (QC) Microbiology Laboratories.

· Assists product development, continuous improvement, and customer support activities associate with the Growth Direct® System and its consumables.

· Responsible for maintaining laboratory notebooks and experimental documentation to support data analysis activities.

· Prepares reagents and culture media for internal and external experiments.

· Supports routine laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance activities.

· Collaborates with Laboratory Support function to maintain stock culture, stock and order supplies, and dispose of laboratory waste, and provide support for other general laboratory activities.

· Assist with feasibility testing and method development for the Growth Direct® System applications, as part of microbiology service offerings.

· Perform experiments for sales and marking efforts.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

· Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or other related technical degree with 0-2 years of experience with general microbiological methods.

· Experience with common laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, etc.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

· Preferred experience in QC Microbiology Laboratory.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Primarily in a laboratory setting with requirement to stand for extended periods of time.

· Travel may be required up to 10%.

· Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion to meet critical deadlines.

· Requires ability to lift 15+ pounds.
