Our Future Health is the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to transform the future of healthcare. Today, millions of people across the UK live with conditions such as cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease. By bringing together 5 million volunteers from across the UK, Our Future Health is creating one of the most detailed pictures of human health ever assembled.
As a Research Associate, you’ll deliver rapid, high-impact research and experimentation to inform decisions across programme growth, diversity, operational quality, and participant engagement.
You’ll work in a test-and-learn environment, selecting the most appropriate methodology for each problem, whether that’s surveys, RCTs or experiments, and owning projects end-to-end, from framing research questions to delivering actionable insights.
You’ll also play a key role in embedding experimentation capability directly into cross-functional teams, helping squads move faster, learn quicker, and make evidence-based decisions.
You will:
- Design and run experiments, surveys, and pilot studies, ensuring methodological rigour and timely delivery
- Translate ambiguous problems into clear research questions, success metrics, and testable hypotheses
- Select and apply appropriate methodologies (e.g. RCTs, A/B tests, regression analysis, ANOVA)
- Manage the full research lifecycle: design → approvals → execution → analysis → insight delivery
- Produce clear, concise, and actionable outputs for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, data, and engagement teams to embed experimentation into workflows
- Contribute to building a scalable, outcome-focused experimentation culture across the organisation
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment
You’ll be part of a highly collaborative Science function, working across nearly every area of the organisation. Your work will directly contribute to improving the scale, diversity, and impact of a national health research programme.
This is a unique opportunity to apply rigorous research methods in a real-world, high-impact setting whilst working on meaningful problems.
We welcome applicants from both academic and commercial backgrounds. Whether your experience comes from research institutions, industry, or startups, what matters most is your ability to design robust studies, generate insights quickly, and drive evidence-based decisions.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in research design and statistical methods (PhD or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on experience designing and analysing surveys and experiments
- Working knowledge of statistical techniques such as A/B testing, ANOVA, regression, and Chi-square
- Understanding of sampling methods, bias, and experimental design principles
- Ability to choose the right methodology for the problem, not just apply familiar tools
- Experience communicating complex findings to diverse audiences
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at pace
- A curious, analytical mindset with a drive to learn, test, and iterate quickly
- Experience with tools such as Qualtrics, Prolific, or similar research platforms

What We Do
Our Future Health is the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to prevent, detect and treat diseases. Our mission is to create an incredibly detailed picture of the UK population’s health, by recruiting up to five million adult volunteers from across the UK. Each volunteer will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and provide a blood sample that can be linked to their health records. Taken together, the data will present health researchers with a powerful tool to identify new ways of tackling diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and dementia. It's an unprecedented challenge that involves answering questions that have never been asked before – ethical, practical, and technological. And by getting these answers right, we believe Our Future Health will allow future generations to live in good health for longer. We are currently expanding our team and looking for specialists across various fields – people who are motivated by the opportunity of creating something new that will make a difference to society.
