The SLim Group is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated early-career scientist as a Research Associate (RA) who is interested in advancing the application enzymes in bioupcycling project. The RA will be an individual contributor who is a technical expert and will be working in a multi-disciplinary team involving bioengineer and materials scientist.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting up protocols for high-throughput process parameters screening;
Develop automation process for process monitoring;
Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project;
Presenting results in various meetings/forums;
Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency;
Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise;
Advising final year project and/or interns in the project;
Ordering chemicals and consumables for the team.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering or a related field.
Proven experience in recombinant protein expression using E. coli, protein purification using AKTA FPLC systems, and basic molecular biology and protein analytical techniques.
Experience in microbial engineering and the development of synthetic biology genetic toolkits.
Familiarity with enzyme kinetics and polymer-degrading enzymes will be an advantage.
Ability to independently design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to manage research activities, deliver project outcomes in a timely manner, and support general laboratory operations.
Familiarity with the ARIBA procurement/ordering platform will be an advantage.
