Your next career opportunity  
You will support innovative T cell biology and metabolism research, combining mouse work, cell assays and advanced single-cell technologies. 

You will collaborate closely with experienced immunologists, contribute ideas and gain autonomy to drive your own projects. 

What you will deliver:  

  • Conduct mouse monitoring, procedures and tissue experiments, managing lines and supporting animal ethics documentation. 

  • Perform mammalian cell culture, organoid work, flow cytometry and immunological assays using human and mouse samples. 

  • Generate and analyse single-cell genomics and metabolomics data, interpreting results and presenting findings to the team. 

  • Maintain accurate experimental records, contribute to lab housekeeping and help coordinate shared resources and equipment. 

  • Support training of students and new staff, sharing expertise and fostering collaborative, respectful communication across the lab.  

You may be a great fit if you:  

  • Hold a BSc (Honours) or equivalent in Immunology, Microbiology or a closely related discipline. 

  • Bring a minimum of 1–2 years’ laboratory experience, including mouse handling, procedures and immunisation in research settings. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and in vitro immunological assays. 

  • Use analysis software confidently, including FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, ImageJ and standard spreadsheet and documentation tools. 

  • Collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues, animal technicians and external partners, communicating clearly about experimental progress. 

  • Contribute to training and mentoring students and new starters, sharing skills while maintaining high laboratory practice standards.

You will join the Department of Microbiology and Immunology within the School of Biomedical Sciences at Parkville. 

Based at the Peter Doherty Institute, you will access purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to infection and immunity.
