Job Description:

The Research Assistant will support research activities in Dr. Tingle’s lab by collecting, curating, and analyzing data, and by training student researchers in data collection techniques. Research activities will involve external measurements and musculoskeletal dissection of preserved snake specimens, sometimes with the aid of a dissecting scope; using software to obtain data from CT scans of snake specimens; locomotor experiments with live snakes involving videography, accelerometry, or related data collection techniques. The Research Assistant will also annotate videos and analyze data using R, Python, or other programming languages.

 

This is a fixed term position with an end date of 8/31/2027, which may be extended based upon available funding.


Job Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and at least 1-2 years of relevant work or research experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with live vertebrate biomechanics data collection is advantageous
  • Experience with specimen-based data collection is a plus
  • Experience with software such as XMALab or DeepLabCut for processing and analyzing video data is advantageous
  • Experience coding in R or Python for data visualization and analysis preferred
