The Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases is looking to hire a research assistant to aid with biobanking and molecular biology techniques. Under general supervision, the candidate will provide routine technical assistance in assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects in a BSL-2 laboratory setting. Responsibilities include assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, as well as collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data for clinical and diagnostic neurodegeneration research. Previous BSL-2 lab experience is a plus.
ResponsibilitiesCompiles patient data specified in the study protocols and provides general administrative duties in support of the research studies.
Defines and manages project resource needs within specified timelines and budgets.
Maintains research databases; prepares and submits individual study progress reports as needed. Experience with LIMS software is a plus.
Assists in conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data
Serves as a liaison with designated service providers to ensure successful deployment of protocol requirements.
Provides routine technical assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects.
- Assists investigator or technicians with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Follow industry standards and safety regulations.
- Assists with SOP generation
- Assists with laboratory ordering, including gathering informational quotes and preparing ordering lists.
- Carries out general laboratory maintenance. When needed, identifies and schedules service providers for necessary maintenance and repairs.
Has experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as nucleic acid isolation and purification, gel electrophoresis, genotyping, ELISAs, and PCRs. Experience with MSD, Quanterix Simoa, and Fujerebio Lumipulse systems is a plus.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other e-mail software.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in a basic science is required.
Experience:
- None.
- One or more previous years of laboratory experience is preferred.
