The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract (with possibilities of extension) at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC).
Project Title: Cerebrovascular Health, Adult Learning, Resilience and Mechanisms: CHARM Study
Project Introduction: As part of CHARM study, we will develop learning pedagogy for middle aged adults based on the principles of neuropsychological pedagogy and life-style interventions. Two learning packages will be designed with each package comprising a pre-course, course, and post-course components. The course components will include lectures, group-activities, and homework. The content will be developed by our team, in close collaboration with adult learners, through interviews and focus group sessions comprising learners of various age groups and occupational-types.
Requirements:
- Academic qualification:
Bachelor degree in Education and/or Psychology and/or Neuroscience or similar areas
- Work experience:
- Prior experience conducting systematic literature reviews
- Prior experience designing and developing learning materials
- Prior experience teaching at any educational level
- Prior experience designing and administering instruments to evaluate learning goals
- Prior experience designing interview protocols
- Prior experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Prior experience disseminating research findings targeting the general public and academic audiences
- Desirable interests, skills, and attributes:
- Passion for teaching and learning

- Prior experience in inquiry-based pedagogy

Responsibilities:
- To conduct systematic literature reviews (summarizing, coding, and organizing relevant literature).
- To design and develop learning materials for the program including topics such as general characteristics of the nervous system and core aspects of brain development and brain anatomy.
- To support the delivery of the program.
- To design and administer instruments to evaluate the program learning goals by assessing pre-and post- knowledge concerning brain and cognitive development, for example.
- To design semi-structured interview protocols and conduct qualitative analysis (summarizing, coding, and organizing relevant literature).
- To compute different statistical analyses for the findings obtained in the systematic literature reviews and semi-structured interviews.
- To contribute to research translation and dissemination of findings targeting the general public and academic audiences.
- To perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigators.
