This position is part of the research project “Revolutionizing The Diagnostic and Therapeutic Paradigms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Ingestible Robotics,” which aims to develop novel ingestible robotic platforms for non-invasive diagnosis and targeted treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The project combines expertise in micro/nano-robotics, biomedical sensing, soft actuators, and gastrointestinal physiology to transform the clinical management of IBD.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to support the development and experimental validation of ingestible robotic systems for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) diagnostics and therapeutics. The role will focus on the design, fabrication, and testing of miniaturized robotic capsules, biocompatible sensing modules, and targeted drug delivery mechanisms. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, prototype, and fabricate ingestible robotic capsule systems

  • Conduct in-vitro and ex-vivo experiments in simulated GI environments

  • Develop and integrate biocompatible sensing modules for IBD biomarker detection

  • Test targeted drug delivery mechanisms

  • Perform data analysis and contribute to research publications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in electrical and Electronic Engineering, computer engineering, or related field

  • Expertise in embedded system and FPGA

  • Proficiency in basics of programming languages such as C, C++ and Python

  • Knowledge in interfacing circuit design for low power sensing and wireless communication

  • Familiarity with micro-fabrication techniques, rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing), or cleanroom processes is preferred

  • Experience in experimental design and laboratory work, particularly in robotics, MEMS, or biomedical devices, is an advantage

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python)

  • Good written and oral communication skills in English

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment

  • Meticulous with an eye for detail and strong organizational skills
