Position Summary:

The Research Assistant II within the Cancer Care Access Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will be
responsible for coordinating logistics for new and existing cancer care access research projects, including
the Formation of a Research Cohort for the Cancer Care Access Program

PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Travel to the program’s cancer diagnostic outreach clinics at Federally Qualified Health Centers to consent patients to the Formation of a Research Cohort for the Cancer Care Access Program.
  • Assist with coordination, preparation, and facilitation of research project meetings (e.g., schedule meetings, develop agendas, take notes, follow up on next steps, etc.).
  • Coordinate research project activities (e.g., recruit study participants, confirm eligibility, enroll participants, conduct interviews, distribute surveys, conduct medical chart reviews, etc.) at internal and external study sites.
  • Maintain databases (including data entry) and project documentation with accuracy.
  • Perform data entry quality checks in REDCap and Tableau.
  • Extract relevant information from data management systems and perform basic statistical analysis.
  • Assist investigators with protocol development, manuscript preparation, and publications.
  • Support the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals.
  • Support Institutional Review Board (IRB) research project submission process.
  • Conduct literature searches and reviews as requested Maintain the security and confidentiality of all study materials and data.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, dependable, and motivated
  • Ability to relate effectively in-person and by phone with diverse groups of patients, community members, physicians, nurses, and researchers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed record keeping and organization of work
  • Skilled at time management with competing deadlines
  • Proactive approach to learning new tasks and problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently as well as in group

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, natural or social science preferred
  • 2 years of work experience in public health or health policy (this can include internship and other related experiences)
  • Experience navigating and working in data storage and reporting systems (REDCap and Tableau preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of statistical programming (i.e., SAS and/or R)
  • Comfortable working with an in-person or virtual interpreter
  • Bilingual language skills are a plus
