The Laboratory of Professor Edward Fon is looking for a Research Assistant to join a research team investigating the molecular and pathological mechanisms underlying Parkinson's disease (PD). The Research Assistant will carry out experiments using established protocols, including work with immortalized cell lines and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models. Experimental approaches will span high-content imaging CRISPR screens, cell-based assays, omics approaches, and standard molecular and biochemical techniques. Meaningful contributions to key experiments will be recognized through authorship on resulting publications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cell-based cultures using immortalized cell lines and iPSC-derived models, including cellular differentiation protocols
  • Carry out standard molecular and biochemical assays, including Western blot analyses, protein extraction, and DNA/RNA extraction
  • Contribute to the establishment and ongoing maintenance of the lab's cell bank
  • Analyze data generated from cell-based assays and high-content imaging platforms
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing experimental methods
  • Prepare research documentation, including laboratory records and data compilations
  • Participate in writing scientific communications and manuscripts

Training & Development

The successful candidate will receive hands-on training in both standard cell culture and molecular biology techniques as well as iPSC-specific workflows, and will develop the broader research skills needed to excel in this role.
