Purpose – CEEW is seeking a motivated
Research Analyst to join the Technology Futures team to support research on
enhancing domestic value addition across critical mineral value chains,
including mineral exploration, mining, processing, and recycling, and to
analyse their implications for India's clean energy and industrial sectors. The
candidates will be expected to develop expertise in mineral use cases beyond
clean energy and assess how competing applications may impact India's energy
transition. The role requires a strong interest in the technical aspects of
critical mineral value chains, along with the ability to understand economic
and trade dynamics, connect interdisciplinary insights, and provide
well-informed recommendations. The analysis will support evidence-based
decision-making by government and industry stakeholders.
Position: Research Analyst – Exploration and Mining
Focus areas include:
· Understanding
of mineral formations & stratigraphy
· Mineral
exploration technologies and geoscience applications
· Mining
technologies, planning, and productivity
· Resource
estimation, beneficiation, and ore upgrading
· Digital
and AI-enabled systems for exploration and mining operations
· Environmental,
safety, and regulatory considerations in mining
Job Duties and
Accountabilities
· Conduct
literature and market research on critical minerals, technologies, and supply
chains.
· Collect,
structure, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
· Design and
implement data collection approaches, including surveys and interviews.
· Develop models,
visualisations, and analytical tools to support research outputs.
· Map
infrastructure, capabilities, and skills for domestic manufacturing ecosystems.
· Develop and
maintain stakeholder networks with industry, academia, and government.
· Draft
high-quality research outputs, presentations, and policy briefs.
· Ensure
quality, rigour, and accuracy of research deliverables.
· Contribute to
organising workshops, roundtables, and stakeholder consultations.
· Participate
in relevant conferences, training programmes, and outreach activities.
· Support project management and documentation
as required.
Selection Criteria – Education & Experience
● 0–3 years of relevant
experience, including internships, research assistantships, academic projects
or working in technical / management consulting.

Key Skill Requirements
● Deep understanding of the critical
minerals space, including a wide range of stakeholders.
● Fundamental
knowledge and experience with basic computer software, including Microsoft 365.
● Sound
understanding of the relevant fields of study with strong communication skills.
● Strong analytic
skills, including quantitative research skills.
● Willingness
to learn new research and ability to work in an interdisciplinary and
multicultural environment.
● Interest in next-generation
technology with a belief that even small innovations can impact the pace of
climate change.
● Ability to
effectively work in a team while being able to independently drive research
with minimum assistance, when time demands.
● Ability to dig
deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and
big picture.

Compensation
Competitive compensation commensurate to the experience and matching
the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for
similar roles.

Skills Required
- 0–3 years of relevant experience, including internships, research assistantships, academic projects, or technical/management consulting
- Master’s degree in Geology or Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
- Understanding of critical minerals, mineral formations, stratigraphy, exploration technologies, mining, resource estimation, beneficiation, and ore upgrading
- Knowledge of basic computer software, including Microsoft 365
- Strong quantitative research and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary, multicultural environment
- Interest in next-generation technology and climate-related innovation
