Job Description

This is a 3 year temporary position.

This person is responsible for providing data reporting services, including creating online real-time reports and satisfying ad-hoc data requests using university databases as requested by academic affairs, enrollment management and  accreditation and compliance and executive and academic units and departments for the university.  This person will participate in technical design, programming, and report generation, and will utilize relational databases within these applications. The individual will prepare data models and analytics and the creation of standard and dynamic reports through the data warehouse environment.

Assist in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating institutional data to key stakeholders on campus and to the Information Systems Specialist 3 Analytics and Institutional Research Lead.

Priority:              Essential                              Percent of Time:         30%

Utilize the SCSU data warehouse, Near Reat Time data (NRT), ISRS and Workday tables and other data sources to construct data reports and measures. Conduct integrity checks to ensure data accuracy through the entire ETL process. Manage data definitions and formulas used to generate measures used in performance reporting. Validate local data and Minnesota State reported data to ensure consistency.

Compile and submit standard institutional reports to campus units and campus-wide reports such as the SCSU Factbook.

Respond to routine and ad hoc requests for institutional data from departments and other units and escalate as necessary. Continually enhance standard definitions through centralized and distributed data and reports.

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong analytic ability and statistical analysis skills

  • Experience with database querying, SQL programming, and relational databases with a key focus on data security

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele

Preferred Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialization in computer science, statistics, research design or closely related field.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure SQL Database

  • Experience with IPEDS and other federal data sources

  • Expertise with data management and large database applications

  • Experience with ISRS and other MnSCU databases
