WATE, the ABC Affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee is looking for a Reporter/MMJ to join our dynamic team. You must be creative, energetic, and adaptable. This person will also be a strong storyteller with excellent shooting and editing skills.
The successful candidate will be asked to work solo on stories and will be a major part of the station’s online success by posting timely updates, stories, and other content on our digital platforms.
· Work with management to enterprise and develop stories daily
· Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots, graphics, and stand-ups
· Shoot, write and edit news stories
· Stay on top of current events and issues that impact the East Tennessee community
· Be flexible on schedule
· Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
· Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
· Social Media Savvy: Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.
Requirements & Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
· Fluency in English.
· Knowledge of AP style
· Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting or producing.
· Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Flexibility to work any shift.
