Job Description:

Reporter, Dow Jones Newswires – Barcelona

Dow Jones is seeking a smart, versatile reporter to join its real-time news and analysis team for financial professionals.

Based in Barcelona, reporters monitor press releases, websites, and other sources to publish timely headlines and concise stories. You’ll be skilled at spotting forward-looking details and turning them into punchy, informative content in English.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to market-leading coverage at Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal and a global authority in business journalism.

Note: This role follows a rotating shift pattern—either 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (local time).

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days a week in the office.

You will:

  • Monitor a steady flow of corporate and economic news to identify market-moving developments.

  • Publish fast, accurate headlines and short-form stories in real time.

  • Deliver clear, timely analysis of corporate news for a professional investor audience.

  • Develop longer-form articles and thematic stories as needed.

  • Cover a designated sector—such as banks, pharmaceuticals, or consumer goods—and build relevant expertise.

  • Prioritize and synthesize complex information quickly and clearly.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Dow Jones Newswires, The Wall Street Journal, and international bureaus.

  • Serve the needs of Dow Jones’s core audience of financial professionals.

  • Uphold Dow Jones editorial standards and ethics.

You have:

  • Excellent written English with an additional European Language (German or Italian is preferred).

  • A sharp eye for detail, accuracy, and editorial judgment.

  • Familiarity with corporate earnings, economic indicators, financial markets, or regulation.

  • The ability to handle high-volume, deadline-driven work with composure.

  • A basic understanding of how a newsroom operates.

  • Interest in business journalism and financial news and wires.
